A card for World Mental Health Day

Good morning everyone,
Today is World Mental Health Day and I really wanted to make a card to mark the occasion because crafting helps me to manage my bipolar disorder on a daily basis. I actually started this blog at the end of last year as something to give me focus and keep me motivated at a time when I was finding it difficult to get much crafting done. So my card today is to say thank you to all of you who visit and leave such positive comments. The rest of society has a lot to learn from the crafting community about kindness, support and understanding!

So onto my card, and I have used:
London Tilda (coloured with Inktense pencils) - Magnolia
Sentiment - LOTV
Papers (hand-stitched), butterflies - Maja Design: Coffee in the Arbour
Clouds - Memory Box die
Pearl string, bead berry spray, flowers (with added Glossy Accents for raindrops) - Wild Orchid Crafts
Hessian ribbon, lace, crystal pin - Ribbon Girl
Pearls, wooden spool, Pumice Stone Distress Ink - Samuel Taylors

I am entering my card into the following challenges:
Ribbon Girl - Glitz and Dazzle
Simply Magnolia - Lace and Pearls
Papertake Weekly - Anything Goes

Thank you so much for visiting. For those of you who have, or know people with mental health issues, I am thinking of you all today. x

Rebecca.

  5. Love your beautiful card, I want a pair of those glittery boots! I do agree about crafting, I find that after a stressful day at work it's the ultimate de-stresser (as opposed to distressing!). I've found the crafting community to be extremely friendly and supportive in the main, these days that's rather nice to find :) xx

  7. What a fabulous card Rebecca and thank you for highlighting such an unspoken illness that affects so many of us in one way or the other. Crafting crafty/goodies should be available on prescription!! xx

  8. Gorgeous card Rebecca! I absolutely love her sparkly umbrella, wellies and headband. You've chosen lots of pretty embellishments to put together so effectively.
Thank you for sharing with us about your illness. This is the only way to show people that anyone can have a mental illness and that they should be more understanding of it. Crafting is definitely something to keep you going especially when you've got all of us waiting to see your next fabulous creation! :-) Debra x

  13. Just pure WOW-ness Rebecca. From the sparkly touches on the umbrella and her bow to how you did the sentiment rolling of the little spoon. A true little piece of art.

  28. Hi Sweetie.... somehow I missed this post - no idea why - but I'm here now so better late than never. I really felt I wanted to comment - as I'm so glad to hear that crafting has been your therapy.. I certainly find it gives me total focus and concentration at times in my life when I've struggled (and believe me, I know what you're talking about).. and also blogland is a wonderful place to be able to find friends and people with similar problems who can understand what you're going through, be there for you, and yet still remain in a way, anonymous... which is often what's needed. I'm certainly glad you're here in blogland - and also very happy that you joined our DT at ITP!

And now.... your card is fabulous - I love your colouring and glitter of course... but that colour scheme... ooooh - just right for this card!

    Big hugs
